Dental bridges are
used to replace missing teeth by bridging
a gap in between two remaining teeth. There are different
types of bridges:
The traditional bridges
– called fixed bridges consist
of a false tooth with a dental
crown on either side.
Resin bonded bridge
– The pontic tooth is fixed to a metal wing. This
metal wing is bonded to the back of the remaining teeth
with a strong adhesive cement.
Cantilever Bridge –
Ususally this type of bridge is only
recommended when there are only teeth
on one side of the missing teeth. These
bridges consist of two corwns together with a false
tooth attatched to fill the space.
